Three words get used loosely and they cost you real money. Here is what each one actually means for brake pads and discs, who manufactures the part in each case, and how to choose for your car — without paying for a box.

OEM (dealer boxed)
Who makes it: The carmaker's own box, sold through the dealer network.
The part inside is almost always made by the same supplier that makes the OES part — it just carries the carmaker's branding, packaging and warranty.
Best for: Cars under manufacturer warranty, or where you want the dealer box for resale records.
OES (original equipment supplier)
Who makes it: The same factory that supplies the carmaker, sold in the supplier's own box — Brembo, ATE, Textar, TRW, Ferodo, Jurid, Bosch and so on.
Same production line, same specification, supplier branding. Because it skips the carmaker's packaging and distribution markup, it is often meaningfully less expensive than the dealer box. This is where most informed owners land.
Best for: Almost every out-of-warranty car. The default recommendation.
Quality aftermarket
Who makes it: Established brake specialists who never supplied the production line for your model, plus performance names like EBC, DBA, Mintex or Akebono.
Range is wide. A reputable aftermarket brand can match or beat OES on a specific characteristic — low dust, high-temperature bite — while budget no-name pads are a genuine safety risk.
Best for: Older cars, specific needs like less dust or track use, or where OES is unavailable.
Unbranded / counterfeit
Who makes it: No verifiable manufacturer, prices that look too good.
Friction material and backing plates that have not been validated. Braking distances, fade behaviour and disc wear are all unknowns. We do not sell them.
Best for: Never.

Still under warranty
Take the OEM boxed part, or an OES part with the invoice kept on file. Check your warranty terms first.
Out of warranty, daily driver
OES is the sensible default — same factory, supplier box, lower price.
Dust on the alloys bothers you
Ask for a low-dust ceramic-type compound. Some aftermarket brands do this better than the original pad.
Heavy SUV or spirited driving
Prioritise high-temperature performance over price. Fade resistance matters more than dust.
Older car, OES unavailable
A reputable aftermarket brand is the right answer. Avoid anything without a traceable manufacturer.
Not sure which variant you have
Send the car's exact variant and year on WhatsApp. If fitment is unclear we may ask for the VIN or chassis number.
We do not dispatch any brake part without first verifying the chassis number against the manufacturer catalogue — this is how we make sure the part that leaves our warehouse is the correct one for your car.
17-character VIN from the windshield base, driver-side door jamb or RC book. Required — variants of the same model can use different brake parts.
For example: Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG (W212), 2014. Tells us which catalogue to check.
Printed on the back-plate of the worn pad or on the disc edge — speeds up cross-reference and pricing.
A WhatsApp photo of the worn pad (back-plate side), disc edge and caliper helps confirm fitment for facelift / imported variants.
Every order is verified against your VIN / chassis number before dispatch, so a wrong-part shipment from our side is extremely rare. In the unlikely event that we ship a part that does not match the chassis number you shared, we will replace it at our cost. The only case where a return is not accepted is if the chassis / engine number itself was given incorrectly at the time of order — please double-check it from your RC book before confirming.
