Common wear pattern on i20 / Verna
i20 (BI3, Bn7) and Verna (HCi, BN7) tend to develop the following symptoms in this order on Bangalore roads:
- Stabilizer end-link rattle on broken roads — 40–70,000 km.
- Front strut bearing tick (turning at low speed) — 60–90,000 km.
- Rear-shock soft / bouncy — 70–1,00,000 km.
- Front lower-arm bush thunk over potholes — 90,000+ km.
OE supplier and OES alternatives
Most i20 and Verna variants ship with Mando shocks and struts from the Hyundai factory. Mando OES is the direct equivalent at lower cost. KYB Excel-G is the cross-reference Japanese OE alternative. Monroe Original works well on the rear. For arms and links: TRW (ZF Aftermarket), Lemförder or Meyle. For bushes: Febi or Meyle HD.
Indicative price bands — i20 / Verna
Indicative only. Final price depends on chassis number and current MRP.
- Pair of front struts (Mando OES / KYB): ₹6,000–₹11,000.
- Pair of rear shocks (Mando / KYB / Monroe): ₹3,800–₹7,500.
- Strut top-mount + bearing (per side): ₹1,500–₹3,200.
- Stabilizer link rod (per side): ₹500–₹1,200.
- Front lower control arm (per side, complete): ₹3,000–₹6,500.
- Full job (parts + labour + alignment): ₹15,000–₹28,000.
Pitfalls on i20 / Verna
Two things owners get wrong:
- Buying "complete strut assembly" when only the shock cartridge is bad. On i20 / Verna the strut + spring + mount comes apart — a good garage can reuse the spring and save you ₹3–5k per side.
- Skipping alignment after arm replacement. Mandatory — without it you will eat the front tyres in 5,000 km.
