Common pitfalls on BMW M340i
- M340i has a noticeable first-stop "wake up" — the OE pad needs ~30 metres to reach full friction from cold. This is normal. Do not assume the pads are worn.
- Wheel arch dust on M340i is mostly the OE low-metallic pad. Switching to ATE Ceramic OES solves it without losing braking performance for daily use.
- BMW EPB (electronic parking brake) means rear pad replacement requires an OBD scanner to retract the rear caliper piston. Plan labour accordingly.
